Hourly Range: $16.00 - $22.12 Minimum - Maximum

Pay Grade: AU-04

Primary Purpose: To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable environment in a condition of safety, neatness, and aesthetic attractiveness.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills: Special training or experience in area of work

Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver's license and be insurable

Major Responsibilities And Duties:

• Assists in providing daily, preventive, and emergency maintenance services.
• Able to operate general repair tools as needed.
• Works cooperatively with other departments in maintaining school properties.
• Requisitions supplies and materials in the prescribed manner.
• Learns proper safety procedures; follows safety regulations in the performance of duties; and reports accidents immediately.
• Operates maintainer to level off grounds for safety of children.
• Operates back hoe as needed to repair water lines, sewer lines, or move soil from various locations.
• Operates heavy equipment in such a way as to not damage property.
• Works outside of regular assigned work schedule to include night and/or weekend duty as requested.
• Ensures vehicles, equipment, and tool boxes are locked and secure at all times while vehicle is left unattended.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Shop Equipment and tools: Must be familiar with back-hoe, trenching machine, and electric hand tools, small hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire cutters, etc.), hand saws, power tools, drills, jacks, and lift equipment

Vehicle and related equipment: District Vehicle and Light van or truck seat belts, shoulder harness, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher, radio communication equipment

Mental Demands: Ability to concentrate, communicate (verbal and written), interpret, reason, read, compute, instruct and maintain emotional control; ability to handle several projects at the same time with frequent interruptions

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional prolonged hours, frequent districtwide travel, and occasional out of district travel. Ability to frequently lift and carry moderate weights (15-44 pounds), sitting, standing, walking, climbing (stairs, ladder, scaffold, or ramps), balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speech, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, exposure to temperature extremes (hot or cold), exposure to humidity extremes, exposures to noise, exposure to low or intense illumination, exposure to vibration, exposure to microwaves, exposure to biological hazards (Communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), exposure to chemical hazards (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dust, smoke, etc.), exposure to electrical hazards, work outside, prolonged exposure to sunlight, work with hands in water, work around moving object or vehicles, work around machinery with moving parts, work on slippery surfaces, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours
