Dishwasher

This is an hourly position that includes a State-required 32-day break at the end of 11 months. Superior work performance may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance into a benefits eligible permanent position. Responsibilities Wash dishes, glassware, serving utensils, bowls, pots, and pans using conveyor belt machines or by hand, ensuring they are cleaned and sanitized. Maintain the flow of the dish room by keeping a steady supply of clean dishes, utensils, and glassware ready for use. Assist with restocking and cleaning the beverage and dining areas, maintain and restock all public restrooms, and remove trash, sweeping and mopping at the end of the shift. Check in food stock items, break down pallets, and put away food stock in a timely and organized manner, placing received items in appropriate storage areas. Perform necessary cleaning tasks in accordance with maintaining a Grade “A” Sanitation rating. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining business needs are met. The position may be asked to assist in other locations as necessary. Work Schedule Shifts are available from early morning to late nights, including weekends. Full- and part-time positions are available. Requirements and Preferences High School Diploma or equivalency. Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Be dependable and manage time efficiently. Ability to work proficiently in a busy kitchen. Adapt to changing customer volume levels with a sense of urgency. Follow written and/or verbal instructions, and complete all tasks with excellence. Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and peers, and work cohesively as part of a team. Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations. Stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, twist, pull, and push. Work in extremely hot and cold kitchen conditions. Lift up to 30 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Experience and Skills Previous commercial dishwashing experience. Understanding of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
