Assistant Store Leader Overview We’re excited to have you join the 7‑Eleven family of stores! The Assistant Store Leader assists management with overall store conditions, maximizes guest services and store profitability, fosters a coaching environment where employees excel and are recognized. Assistant Leaders are scheduled on separate shifts or days with the exception of one day a week. He/She will oversee facility operations in the absence of the Facility Leader and cultivate a GUEST‑in‑Mind Culture, focusing on the wildly important, being a leader, and being committed to the guest. Responsibilities Provides prompt, courteous customer service by discovering guests’ needs with management support. Assists in planning and preparing schedules and prepares shift reports and/or other reports as required by management. Completes DSR and shift analysis reports and assists in calculations of food consumption, requests purchases of food products, supplies and equipment as required. Ensures accuracy of gasoline pump readings and supports cleaning of shelves, drives, dispensers, restrooms, store interior/exterior, and other designated areas. Makes sure building, equipment and grounds are maintained, and assists in analyzing financial data including profit & loss statements, shortages to identify business opportunities and increase sales. Assists in analyzing food service results and trends to determine proper action plans, leverage food sales and address areas for improvement. Assists management with ordering and vendor check‑in and works under the direction of the Item Level Inventory Specialist with inventory audits. Contributes to price‑counting inventory, pricing, stocking and rotating merchandise. Conducts competitor surveys at management’s direction using a personal vehicle. Effectively reacts to and reports customer complaints tactfully and promptly, addresses and follows company policy and procedures and all laws governing restricted beverage and tobacco sales. Performs service transactions in accordance with company policy such as alcohol & tobacco sales, lottery sales & redemptions, vendor coupon redemptions and company‑approved credit card charges. Follows credit card, money order and check‑cash policies. Effectively oversees facility operations during the absence of the Leader; communicates employee‑relations problems to management for further handling. Safeguards cash and merchandise; follows company robbery‑prevention and reaction procedures as provided in the emergency‑response and reporting procedures and policy manual. Reports and follows policies and procedures established to prevent loss of cash and merchandise due to actions by employees, vendors and/or customers. Ensures bank deposits are made daily and follows proper cash‑handling procedures in accordance with company policies. Ensures and eliminates safety hazards; reports unsafe acts or conditions to management. Prepares required accident/incident reports, immediately reporting such activity. Operates cash register and all point‑of‑sale equipment efficiently. Aids in managing merchandising by directing sales promotions, implementing new programs, and communicating marketing activities to vendors and appropriate personnel. Uses suggestive selling techniques. Assists in training and coaching to develop top‑performing employees. Assists management with applicant screening process. Carries out sales associate responsibilities as required. Maintains personal appearance in accordance with company uniform and appearance policy for Assistant Store Leaders. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and when scheduled. Qualifications Age 18 or older. High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); two‑year degree or above strongly preferred. Minimum one year in retail, fast‑food or sales experience. Current food handler and food safety certification as required by county. Authorized to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license required for banking and competitor surveys; reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance required. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; PDI/Verifone/Topaz experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership and customer‑service skills and competencies; proven success in developing team members. Proficient in using P&L and store reports to affect change. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to exercise sound judgment and work with minimum supervision. Physical function: stand and walk for full shift; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, up to 30 min of workday; push/pull up to 128 lbs with hand truck; bend at waist up to one hour; climb ladder or stool, kneel or crouch to store or retrieve materials; grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands all day, up to four hours. Work environment: ~95 % indoors with occasional outdoor work; exposed to intermittent cold when using walk‑in cooler or freezer.
