About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MICU Duration: 14 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU/Tele experience with medical/surgical trauma/critical patients License: KY or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Level One Trauma experience required. Teaching hospital experience required. All licenses and certifications must be in hand prior to start. Must be able to work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per schedule period. Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted. RTO requests: For the first 2 weeks, only single days off can be requested. After the first 2 weeks, longer time off can be requested. RTO must be requested at the time of submission and will not be approved after the assignment has started. Travelers must be available for their full schedule without conflicts. No holiday RTO accepted. Description: Level One Trauma experience is required for this position. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of ICU/Tele experience with medical/surgical trauma and critical patients. Candidates must have teaching hospital experience. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. All licenses and certifications must be valid and available prior to employment. Travelers must be willing to work a minimum of six weekend shifts during each scheduling period. Local candidates residing within 100 miles will not be considered. RTO requests can only be for single days for the first two weeks; after that, longer requests can be made. Travelers must be available to work their full schedule without conflicts. Candidates must not request holiday time off. Additional requirements include previous charge experience and experience with various patient care scenarios. Candidates should have experience caring for patients with diverse diagnoses such as sepsis, multi-system organ failure, and respiratory failure. Skills needed include management of various invasive lines, interpretation of arterial blood gases, and care of ventilated patients. Candidates must be familiar with performing and assisting in special procedures relevant to the unit's patient care. Compliance with necessary certifications and exams is required prior to hiring. Candidates must float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed.
