Design Engineer - civil

Overview Our client is an engineering firm with over 25 years in the Houston market. They have a wide range of experience in site and land development for industrial, commercial, governmental and residential projects, including the increasingly complex coordination required with public agencies. Due to increasing growth, the firm is looking to add a couple of Engineers to their team. The team works 9‑hour days, enjoys half days off every Friday, and follows a hybrid model with Wednesday and half‑day Friday mornings remote. Responsibilities Creating utility plan and profile drawings under the supervision and direction of a project manager. Working on natural gas lines while being trained on natural gas work; prior experience on sanitary, waterlines, or abatement is required. Developing and adjusting designs for water, sanitary, storm sewer, natural gas distribution and transmission. Managing multiple projects or activities simultaneously, with strong attention to detail. Presenting a couple of samples of CAD designs during the interview process. Qualifications 1–3 years of experience working on civil "utility designs" for roadway, waterlines, sanitary systems, and/or natural gas lines. Strong AutoCAD skills (preferably MicroStation; minimum MicroStation V8i). Valid state driver’s license and a good driving record. Self‑motivated, team‑oriented, willing to learn, and able to work independently. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to solve problems, use good judgment, and develop knowledge of company procedures and processes. Knowledge of utility relocation, abandonment, and adjustments for water, sanitary, storm sewer, and natural gas lines.
