Network Technician

The Network Technician (3rd Shift) is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the State of Alabama's LAN/WAN networks, including voice and data circuits across a statewide multi-complex environment. This role involves applied technical work in data systems monitoring, incident response, and network troubleshooting to ensure service reliability and availability on a 24/7 operational support team. Responsibilities:

• Monitor network alarms, alerts, and faults, responding promptly to maintain service reliability.
• Maintain and update ServiceNow records including incidents, requests, problems, configuration items, and change requests.
• Analyze network data using management systems, databases, and reports to identify and resolve equipment or service issues.
• Initiate trouble reports and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance or technical support personnel.
• Participate in shift work covering weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 support team.
• Complete initial training on 2nd and 1st shifts before starting 3rd shift duties.

• Minimum 1 year experience in LAN/WAN maintenance and support.
• Minimum 1 year of call center or service desk experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of voice and data circuits troubleshooting and research.
• Familiarity with incident ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
• High School Diploma or GED.

• CompTIA Network+ Certification.

• Must undergo Standard background and ALEA checks.
• Work is 100% on-site in Montgomery, Alabama; no remote work allowed.
• Must complete 2 weeks training on 2nd shift and 2 weeks on 1st shift before starting 3rd shift.
• Position is contract to merit with potential conversion at hiring manager's discretion.

• 3rd shift schedule: 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
• Shift rotation pattern: 10 days on, 4 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off, then repeat.
• Shift work includes weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 operational support team.
