Company Description Missoula Manor Homes is a six-story independent living community in Missoula, MT, offering 83 studio apartments and 44 one-bedroom apartments for individuals aged 62 and older. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of a non-profit senior independent living community, providing strategic leadership and oversight of all operations, including affordable housing supported through HUD Section 8 programs and market-rate housing. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the organization’s mission, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, resident satisfaction, and operational excellence while fostering a safe, welcoming, and vibrant community for older adults. This position directs all aspects of community operations, including property management, resident services, finance, human resources, facilities management, occupancy management, fundraising, community partnerships, and strategic planning. The Executive Director serves as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and works closely with residents, families, staff, government agencies, community organizations, and funding partners to ensure high-quality housing and services. The Executive Director ensures compliance with HUD regulations, Fair Housing requirements, federal and state housing laws, and applicable non-profit governance standards while overseeing market-rate housing operations that support organizational growth and long-term financial stability. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership and implement strategic initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. Oversee daily operations of the senior living community, including both HUD-assisted and market-rate housing programs. Ensure compliance with HUD Section 8 regulations, Fair Housing laws, and all federal, state, and local requirements. Direct property management functions, including leasing, occupancy, certifications, resident relations, inspections, maintenance, and capital improvement projects. Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets while ensuring sound financial stewardship. Monitor financial performance, occupancy levels, revenue generation, and long-term sustainability of the organization. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate management and staff, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Foster resident engagement and maintain a high standard of resident satisfaction, safety, and quality of life. Build and maintain relationships with donors, government agencies, healthcare providers, social service organizations, and community stakeholders. Advise and collaborate with the Board of Directors on strategic planning, policy development, and organizational performance. Ensure effective risk management, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Healthcare Administration, Housing Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred, not required. Progressive leadership experience in senior living, affordable housing, property management, nonprofit administration, healthcare, or a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of HUD Section 8 housing programs and affordable housing compliance requirements. Experience managing market-rate housing operations and occupancy strategies. Strong financial management, budgeting, and fundraising experience. Proven ability to lead teams, develop partnerships, and work effectively with a Board of Directors. Strong abilities in budgeting, financial oversight, and resource planning, with attention to regulatory and compliance requirements. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills for working with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities, handle urgent issues, and maintain a safe, well-run community. Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to senior housing or residential communities is highly beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Social Services, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
