As a Tax Specialist in our Income Tax Services area, you will ensure compliance with South Carolina and federal tax laws by analyzing and adjusting Income Tax returns in a fair, consistent, and accurate manner.
Primary job duties include:

As a Tax Specialist in our Income Tax Services area, you will ensure compliance with South Carolina and federal tax laws by analyzing and adjusting Income Tax returns in a fair, consistent, and accurate manner.
Primary job duties include:
- Reviewing and auditing tax returns and making any adjustments needed to ensure taxpayer compliance with federal and state tax laws
- Communicating with taxpayers to explain return adjustments
- Staying up to date on tax law changes and on knowledge of our internal tax systems
- Making recommendations to improve existing processes
Either:
- A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses (Transcripts required. Attach to application or email to ) OR
- An associate's degree and experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis
- Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with multiple accounting hours
- Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis
- Associate's degree and three years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis
- Twelve semester hours in accounting, audit, or other business-related subjects
- Basic knowledge of SC tax laws and forms and on-line computer systems
