Job Description and Duties

MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / ALTAMONT SECTOR

The Maintenance Aide reporting location is at Carnegie State Vehicle Recreation Area, 18600 Corral Hollow Road, Tracy CA 95376.  This position works under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief.

The reporting location of this position is the Maintenance Office located at Carnegie State Vehicle Recreation Area.  This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation . This position is designated as not telework eligible.  Work hours are 0700 – 1730 four consecutive days per week, alternate schedules may be accommodated depending on operational needs, employee education schedule or mutual agreement between employee and Supervisor. This Maintenance Aide Position performs maintenance services functions at Carnegie SVRA, Bethany Reservoir SRA and other parks around the District as assigned. Primary duties include participating in housekeeping activities, garbage and trash collection, litter pick up, equipment maintenance, grounds maintenance and assists permanent staff with maintenance of facilities, roads and grounds.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions

Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, inclement weather, in old/abandoned structures and around sewage/trash or other unpleasant conditions.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Ability to work in a variety of environments including cold, windy, wet, and muddy conditions, on unlevel terrain including creek banks, hills, rocks, etc.

Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking, bending, stooping, and lifting and may require heavy physical work including lifting, pushing or pulling.
