This hands-on role focuses on manufacturing precision electromechanical switches and components for aerospace and defense applications. You will combine mechanical and electrical assembly, soldering, drilling, product testing, and test stand operation to build high-quality products from start to finish. Success in this position relies on strong technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and reliability in a close-knit, small-team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manufacture electromechanical aerospace switches and components from start to finish, ensuring all work meets quality and performance requirements.
• Perform mechanical assembly, including precision fitting, alignment, and light drilling to prepare and assemble components.
• Carry out electrical assembly tasks such as wiring, soldering, and component installation according to specifications and standards.
• Operate approved test stands to verify product performance and document test results accurately.
• Read and follow technical drawings, travelers, work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements throughout the build process.
• Inspect your own work to identify defects, nonconformances, and process issues, and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot basic assembly and test issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Support training and mentoring of Level I technicians by sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and providing guidance when needed.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve workflow, reduce rework, and enhance overall process efficiency.
• Identify issues and improvement opportunities, share ideas constructively, and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support team goals and priorities in the order of People, Quality, Throughput, and Cost, maintaining a strong focus on safety and reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools, equipment, and materials responsibly.

Essential Skills:

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to work comfortably on both mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Hands-on experience with precision assembly, including mechanical assembly, drilling, and component installation.
• Proficiency in soldering and wiring for electromechanical assemblies.
• Experience with product testing and test stand operation in a manufacturing or technical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, travelers, work instructions, specifications, and quality documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality, reliable products.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic assembly and test issues and apply logical problem-solving skills.
• Clear and effective communication skills, including the ability to ask clarifying questions and share information with team members.
• Capability to inspect your own work, recognize defects or process deviations, and take corrective action.
• Comfort working in a small, team-oriented manufacturing environment with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Prior experience in aerospace, manufacturing, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Trade school education or technical training in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical disciplines is preferred.
• Experience as an experienced assembler, electromechanical technician, production technician, or maintenance technician is beneficial.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and basic troubleshooting techniques is advantageous.
• Experience in electromechanical manufacturing environments where quality and reliability are critical is a plus.

Only first-shift hours are offered, contributing to a stable and predictable schedule. Relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. There is no formal dress code and no requirement for steel-toe footwear, allowing for comfortable attire while maintaining safety and professionalism. You can sit at your station for parts of the day, balancing hands-on assembly work with seated tasks such as wiring, soldering, and inspection. The environment emphasizes teamwork, mutual support, and continuous improvement while maintaining a calm and approachable shop culture.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
