CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

POSITION
Construction Manager – Rowland Unified School District. One‑position management‑level exempt classification, 12 months per year.SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services or designee, plans, coordinates, and monitors district bond‑funded construction, modernization, renovation, capital improvement, and deferred maintenance projects; serves as district liaison with school sites, staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and public agencies; oversees project implementation through schedule, budget, inspection, and close‑out monitoring; participates in assessing facility renovation and repair needs; ensures compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and agency requirements; resolves project‑related issues to support timely and successful completion of assigned projects.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Construction Manager is responsible for coordinating and monitoring bond‑funded construction projects, focusing on public‑school construction practices, contract documents, building codes, public works requirements, construction schedules, budgets, inspections, and compliance requirements. This classification is distinct from maintenance and operations, concentrating on project coordination rather than routine daily facilities operations.EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Structural), Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related field, or equivalent public agency construction experience. Experience: Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience managing multi‑million‑dollar public school or public works construction projects, including direct responsibility for project planning, design coordination, budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and construction phase oversight. Knowledge: Experience working with the California Division of the State Architect (DSA) and Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) is highly desirable. License: Valid Class C California Driver License with a good driving record.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work both inside and outside in an office environment; may require driving and exposure to construction site hazards. Must stand, walk, sit, stoop/bend, reach overhead, lift up to 50 lbs., use fingers repetitively, speak clearly, hear normal conversation, see small details, use a computer and a telephone.SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary range: 80 (as per District Leadership Team Salary Schedule).
