Public Housing Assistant

Part time: 24hours

Hourly Payrate: $20/hr

Contract to Hire Opportunity

The Public Housing Assistant functions under the Executive Director and is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the front office and supporting the Public Housing Program.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with residents, provide guidance on leases and the housing program, and resolve resident concerns and issues.
• Communicate with applicants to answer questions regarding the waiting list. Maintain and organize waiting list applicant documents.
• Provide referrals to the public on alternative housing solutions.
• Utilize property management software to maintain accurate records of tenant information, rent payments, and maintenance projects.
• Perform housekeeping inspections and understand and implement HUD INSPIRE inspection standards.
• Schedule vendors and maintain good working relationships with service providers.
• Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Some knowledge of housing and community development is preferred.
• Ability to quickly learn and interpret regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to initiate work projects, work independently, and multitask effectively.
• Ability to work in a team environment, contribute as a team member, and treat coworkers and customers with respect.
