EMT Lieutenant/Field Training Officer (FTO-Basic)

Allegiance Mobile Health of Center, Texas is looking to hire EMT Lieutenant/Field Training Officers (FTO-Basic).

SUMMARY:

The EMT Lieutenant/Field Training Officer (FTO) is responsible for the structured clinical and operational onboarding, training, evaluation, and professional development of all clinical personnel. The FTO serves as a clinical role model, educator, and evaluator, ensuring trainees demonstrate competency in clinical care, operational performance, professional conduct, and adherence to medical direction and organizational standards. The FTO functions as a key extension of the agency's clinical education and quality framework, providing objective assessments, coaching, and documentation throughout the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Education & Mentorship Provide direct field-based instruction, coaching, and mentorship to EMT trainees during assigned training phases and providers who are need clinical remediation. Support educational activities developed by the Department of Clinical Practice Reinforce evidence-based clinical practice, clinical judgment, and protocol adherence under real-world conditions. Model professional behavior, ethical decision-making, and patient-centered care. Evaluation & Documentation Conduct ongoing formative and summative evaluations of trainee performance using approved evaluation tools. Objectively assess clinical competency, operational readiness, communication skills, and professionalism. Accurately complete and submit all required FTO documentation within established timelines. Identify performance gaps and participate in the development of remediation plans when indicated. Ensures all necessary patient care and billing documentation is completed within specified timeframes and consults with leadership, verifying that outstanding field providers' charts are complete. Operational & System Integration Ensure trainees understand agency policies, procedures, and operational expectations. Facilitate trainee integration into shift operations, team dynamics, and interagency interactions. Serve as a liaison between trainees, Operational, and DCP leadership as appropriate. Cooperates with other members of the management team to continuously improve service Assists in the verification that all units are clean, stocked, and in working order Verifies that stations and equipment are clean, well kept, and in working order Quality & Continuous Improvement Provide feedback to Operational and DCP leadership regarding trends, training gaps, or system-level improvement opportunities. Participate in FTO meetings, calibration sessions, and ongoing professional development. Maintain familiarity with current Clinical Operational Guidelines (COGs), scope of practice, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to develop, teach, coach, and evaluate adult learners in a dynamic clinical environment. Strong clinical judgment and situational awareness. Effective interpersonal communication and conflict management skills. Ability to balance patient care responsibilities with training duties. Commitment to fairness, consistency, and accountability in evaluations. Physical Requirements Ability to perform all essential EMT job functions, including lifting, carrying, and patient movement. Ability to work in high-stress, unpredictable environments for extended periods. Minimum Qualifications Current Texas DSHS EMT certification in good standing Valid state driver's license and ability to maintain an insurable MVR. Good standing with DCP-approved credentialing requirements AHA Instructor within 12 months of hire BLS TDSHS EMS Instructor within 12 months of hire Demonstrate clinical competence and a strong professional reputation No disciplinary action within the past 12 months Regional operation endorsement Experience with instruction and/ or training delivery Willingness to complete a DCP-approved FTO training program Teach minimum amount of educational opportunities every 12-months Minimum of 12-months within the Allegiance Mobile Health system Minimum of 24-months within a high-volume EMS system Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
