Industrial Wastewater Program Lead - Power Practice

HDR is seeking an Industrial Wastewater (IWW) Program Lead – Power Practice . The role requires at least 10 years of direct experience with industrial water/wastewater treatment systems in the power industry and the ability to develop the business and lead engineering and design teams on detailed design and owner’s engineer projects. Responsibilities Lead business development of IWW services for the Power Practice across North America. Drive proposal development, deliver technical presentations, conduct pursuit interviews and support client relationship growth. Collaborate with other Business Development teams. Serve as SME or technical advisor on strategic projects. Provide technical leadership for front‑end oriented projects, including business case studies and DBMs. Act as senior process engineering advisor on client development and project positioning. Participate in strategic planning and the development of annual and long‑term goals for program and client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and talent acquisition. Conduct site visits to gather technical information, support construction and commissioning, and oversee project closeout. Perform or oversee process design sizing and hydraulic calculations, including mass balances, conceptual water‑treatment system designs, and equipment sizing. Develop design criteria, equipment and procurement specifications, studies, bid evaluations, and reports. Lead the creation of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, piping arrangement drawings, and installation details. Review and evaluate equipment vendor and installation contractor proposals and submittals. Develop and execute QA/QC plans. Lead technical teams comprising engineers, EITs, designers, and drafters. Work directly with project managers and clients to ensure project delivery meets or exceeds expectations. Develop water supply and discharge agreements and permits, and coordinate with permitting authorities. Provide internal and external training on industrial process water/wastewater systems. Implement, monitor and support company policies. Assist in the selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel. Create recommendations for client facility monitoring systems, procedures, lab/chemical/reagent management, and staff training. Actively participate in industry conferences; publish at least one technical paper annually. Preferred Qualifications Process modeling experience. Existing relationships with industrial clients. Project engineering and management experience in a consulting or EPC firm. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field. 10 years of experience in a related field. Professional or engineering registration with relevant technical experience. Experience in developing and managing diverse teams. Collaborative experience with regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business efforts. Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values. Active participation in the employee‑owned culture; ownership mindset required. Compensation and Locations Pay range: $170,000 – $230,000 (based on experience and location).
