Job DescriptionPay Range: $45.00- $60.00 hr.Job SummaryResponsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related vehicle systems. Performs routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Utilizes specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical issues. Ensures compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. May work in various settings including repair shops, transportation companies, or industrial facilities.Essential FunctionsAdvanced knowledge to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment including air systems, oil analysis, cooling systemProficient troubleshooting experienceTroubleshooting of fuel system including ability to perform diagnostic test with manufacturer softwarePerform troubleshooting & diagnosing circuit faultsAbility to disassemble & assemble pumps & lines for the fuel systemAbility to properly troubleshoot Tier 4 SystemsStrong communication and teamwork skillsPerform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checksTroubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problemsInspect diesel equipment and related equipment for safety and compliance issuesKeep up-to-date on the latest diesel equipment technologyFollow all safety procedures and regulationsCritical CompetenciesCommunication - Ability to clearly and effectively convey information, ideas, and messages to others in both written and verbal formats; can express one's thoughts clearly but also demonstrate active listening, understands the needs of the audience, and adapts the message to ensure it is understood.Safety Awareness - Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.Work Ethic - Demonstrates commitment and dedication toward completing tasks with high standards of quality, responsibility, and diligence; demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and a strong sense of personal responsibility in fulfilling job duties.Attention to Detail- Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete tasks, ensuring that no aspects or elements are overlooked; meticulous and precise when handling information, performing tasks, or delivering work, and is critical in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the results.Collaboration - Ability to work effectively with others to achieve common goals by fostering teamwork, open communication, and mutual respect. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.ResponsibilitiesEducation• High School diploma or GED equivalent required. • Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is required. • Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field.Experience• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. • Related equipment knowledge on engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems. • General understanding of basic electrical, powertrain and hydraulic knowledge, moderate usage of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes. • Previous experience with CAT SIS/ET of my Komatsu programs required. • Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment. • Experience with aggregate equipment a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. • Mechanical Skills.Other Requirements• Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. • Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. • Must have knowledge of industrial tools, their uses and maintenance. • Travel will be required overnight as business demands. • Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation at all times. • Must have and maintain valid driver's license.JD DisclaimerVulcan Materials Company is an equal opportunity employer.Job InfoJob Identification 544Job Category Plant/Equip MaintLocations 353 Galestown Rd, Rockingham, NC, 28379, US (On-site)
