Senior Optical Engineer

Job Location ElSegundo, CA Responsibilities Optical design and tolerancing Optics requirement generation and procurement Creating alignment and test plans Hands‑on assembly, integration, and test of optical systems Optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV, FRED, and/or Matlab Derivation of optical requirements and generation of drawing documentation Procurement of custom optics and oversight of suppliers Assembly and alignment of optical sensors in cleanroom environments Optical testing and troubleshooting in laboratory and field settings Work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision as project demands Qualifications Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) Minimum of 5years of relevant experience in optical engineering Proficiency with optical design/analysis and CAD software Experience with optical alignment and measurement equipment U.S. citizenship required for security clearance Preferred Qualifications Experience with optical design in Zemax or CodeV Experience performing straylight analysis in FRED Experience fabricating optics and coatings Experience building and aligning optical assemblies Experience designing opto‑mechanical hardware in CREO Advanced degree in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or Mathematics Benefits Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage Retirement plans including 401(k) match Paid time off, holidays, and flexible work schedules Parental leave (including paternal) and child/adult backup care Educational assistance and achievement awards Employee assistance and security programs Relocation assistance available Equal Opportunity Employer RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
