On-Call Weekend RN

Maquoketa Care Center, a premier, long-term care facility, is looking for an On-Call Weekend RN. This position will help support our weekend shifts by being on-call every other weekend.

Job Highlights:

• Weekend coverage rotating every other week.
• On-call flat rate of $250 per weekend.
• Hourly rate of $50 per hour if called in due to call-out or emergency.
• On-Call Nurse is expected to be within one hour from the facility and available from Friday night through Sunday night.
• This is a 6-month contract (13 weekends).

Responsibilities:

• Remain available during assigned weekend on-call hours and report to the facility when requested
• Promote safety, dignity, and quality of life for every resident
• Respond to changes in resident condition and advocate for their needs
• Coordinate with CNAs, LPNs, RNs, physicians, therapy staff, and families
• Administer medications and treatments with accuracy and professionalism
• Provide high-quality, person-centered care to residents in a homelike environment
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
• Chart nurse’s notes in an informative descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident's response to the care
• The ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
• Maintain a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs
• Answer telephone and call lights when needed

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Active RN License in Iowa
• Current CPR/BLS certification (CPR certification offered bi-annually)
• Positive attitude, empathy, and the ability to lead by example
• Strong assessment and time-management skills
• Genuine passion for working with older adults
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
