Executive Assistant to the City Council Liaison The Department of Strategic and Government Affairs is seeking a full‑time Executive Assistant to the City Council Liaison. This role provides highly detailed technical and administrative support to the Mayor and City Council, manages daily office operations, balances multiple priorities, researches inquiries, and supports the resolution of issues. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary: $66,019 – $75,920 depending on qualifications and experience. City‑subsidized medical and dental insurance with a variety of plan options. City‑paid basic life insurance at 1× annual salary and long‑term disability. Voluntary vision, supplemental life coverage, Aflac plans (accident, cancer, hospitalization, critical illness), short‑term disability and pre‑paid legal benefits through Legal Shield. 9 paid holidays and up to 3 floating holidays. Generous vacation package with accruals starting on day 1. Paid sick leave. Paid parental leave. Robust pension plan (TMRS) with 7% city contribution and 2:1 match. Deferred compensation (457b) plan available. Longevity pay for each month of service after the first 13 months. On‑site wellness facilities and programming. Responsibilities Process and complete detailed forms, correspondence, and reports as directed by the City Council Liaison. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Build and maintain professional stakeholder relationships with a positive and professional demeanor. Maintain calendars for the Mayor and Council members; schedule meetings and ensure quorum notice postings. Organize, manage, and review City Council inquiries and requests; prepare status reports and related documentation. Prioritize work to meet deadlines and schedules; manage agendas for quarterly meetings. Serve as liaison for communications between the City Council and staff as needed. Assist with responding to citizen concerns and service requests in a timely manner; prepare written correspondence. Ensure regular on‑site attendance. Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures. Perform any additional duties as directed by the Director or Supervisor. Be available as an essential employee before, during, and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war. Requirements Formal Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Relatable Work Experience: Four years of secretarial/administrative experience required; municipal experience preferred. Two (2) years of relevant experience demonstrating acceptable proficiency may substitute for the education requirement. Training (License and/or Certification): Valid Texas driver’s license required.
