Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC, ENPC, NIH, CPI Must-Have: Expertise in caring for an acute population Experience with electronic medical records Strong communication skills Positive attitude and lots of energy Description: Unit Information: Number of Beds: 86 Number of Staff: 105 Patient Ratios: Acuity-based, typically 4:1 but will surge when needed. Type of Staff: Day shift has 7 RNs, CNC, additional staff brought in every 2 hours; Night shift has 6-7 RNs, CNC. Standard Procedures: Airway and respiratory support including oxygen administration and bag-valve-mask ventilation. Assistance with rapid sequence intubation and endotracheal tube management. Chest tube setup and management, along with needle thoracostomy assistance. Vascular access procedures such as peripheral IV insertion and central line assistance. Trauma procedures including primary and secondary assessments, hemorrhage control, and trauma resuscitation participation. Emergency childbirth assistance and disaster response procedures. Point-of-care testing and specimen handling. Pediatric emergency procedures such as IV insertion and resuscitation. Skills in managing sepsis alerts and activating stroke/STEMI alerts. Cardiac procedures including 12-lead ECG and administering critical medications. Wound management and stabilization of fractures and orthopedic injuries. Best Personality Fit: Kindness and positive attitude are essential. Unit Guidelines: Must pick up 4 weekend shifts per month.
