SCOPE: The Senior Director of QA & QC for DCEM America leads quality strategy, governance, and execution across Data Center & Energy Management products in North America. The role is accountable for product and system quality across the full lifecycle, from customer requirements, design, sourcing, and manufacturing through installation, commissioning, delivery, operational performance, and service, and holds final release authority. This leader will build and lead QMS and QA/QC structures, processes, and governance in North America, ensuring alignment with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. quality standards and compliance with regional regulatory and certification requirements. The role partners closely with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, field services, commercial teams, and global stakeholders in Japan and the U.S. to drive continuous improvement and deliver reliable, scalable, and compliant solutions that support MHIA’s business objectives. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives. The ideal candidate will have at least seventeen (17) years of experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing in industrial, energy, or data center-related industries, with at least seven (7) years in senior leadership roles managing cross-functional quality organizations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Define and implement quality strategy, including QMS frameworks and QAQC execution, policies, procedures, and standards for DCEM America aligned with global DCEM objectives. Ensure all QA/QC practices comply with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. Quality processes, procedures, and global quality standards. Establish quality governance frameworks covering the full lifecycle from definition of customer requirements through design, sourcing, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning to customer delivery, operational performance, and service. Integrate quality requirements into business planning, program execution, and operational processes. Organization & system build Establish and build organizational structures across QMS and QAQC functions in North America, including roles, responsibilities, reporting structure, and talent development. Develop and implement QA/QC processes, systems, and tools aligned with both North American operational needs and MHI global standards. Drive standardization of quality practices across projects, suppliers, and partners. Build scalable quality management systems to support rapid business growth in DCEM America. Lead capability development, including training programs and knowledge transfer across regions. Quality operations & execution Oversee QA/QC execution across all projects, including design reviews, inspections, testing, commissioning, and acceptance. Ensure robust quality control processes are implemented across internal teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. Monitor and drive improvements in key quality metrics such as defect rates, rework, warranty claims, and field performance. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for major quality issues. Supplier & manufacturing quality Establish and manage supplier quality programs, including qualification, audits, performance monitoring, and development. Ensure quality assurance across global sourcing and manufacturing interface, including engine sourcing in Japan and module packaging in North America, while aligning practices with MHI global quality standards. Collaborate with manufacturing teams and packagers to ensure process capability, consistency, and quality at scale. Compliance & certification Ensure compliance with applicable North American standards and certifications (e.g., UL, ETL, NRTL, environmental and emissions regulations). Ensure alignment between MHI's internal Quality standards and external regulatory requirements. Lead engagement with certification agencies, regulatory bodies, and customers on quality-related matters. Oversee documentation, traceability, and audit readiness across all programs. Cross-functional leadership & stakeholder management Partner with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, program management, commercial, and service teams to embed quality across all lifecycle phases. Provide executive-level reporting on quality performance, risks, and mitigation plans. Lead and develop QA/QC teams across multiple locations in North America. Foster a strong quality-first culture across internal teams and external partners. Continuous improvement & risk management Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies. Identify, assess, and mitigate quality-related risks across programs and the full lifecycle. Lead lessons learned processes and ensure systematic feedback into product and process design. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education Requirement: B.A. or B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field Experience: Minimum of seventeen (17) years of experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing in industrial, energy, or data center-related industries, with at least seven (7) years in senior leadership roles managing cross-functional quality organizations Experience with final product/system release, acceptance, or quality signoff authority in a complex industrial environment Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems and quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001) Proven experience in establishing and scaling quality organizations and systems Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvements, manage risk, and lead root cause analysis initiatives Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement Experience working with global teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers Proficiency with business and quality management tools (MS Office, ERP/MES, analytical tools) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in modular data centers, power generation systems, or mission-critical infrastructure Experience with North American regulatory and certification frameworks (UL, ETL, NRTL, NEC, environmental/emissions compliance) Certification in quality systems or methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CQE) Experience in global organizations and cross-cultural collaboration (Japan–U.S. business experience preferred) Familiarity with lean manufacturing, digital quality systems, and advanced analytics Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or data center deployments in North America WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel: 25-40% Standard Monday through Friday work week; additional hours as required based on business needs Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate, with occasional visits to manufacturing sites, supplier facilities, and customer locations Why Should You Apply?
