Allergy Clinic Nurse (RN)

An Allergy Clinic Nurse provides direct, high-quality patient care in the allergy/immunology clinic under physician supervision. The role focuses on allergy testing, immunotherapy administration, patient education, and coordination of care for patients.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial patient assessments, triage, and allergy history taking; document findings in the electronic health record.
• Prepare and perform skin prick and intradermal allergy testing, monitor patients for reactions, and document results.
• Administer allergen immunotherapy injections (SCIT) per protocols; ensure accurate dosing, post-injection observation, and management of adverse reactions.
• Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments; monitor for adverse effects and intervene as needed.
• Educate patients and families on test results, treatment plans, allergy management, epinephrine auto-injector use, and avoidance strategies.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and treatment planning; coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
• Assess vital signs; assist with spirometry/peak flow testing as appropriate; contribute to quality improvement efforts.
• Maintain clinic readiness: prepare exam rooms, sterilize equipment, manage inventory, and uphold infection control standards.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, coding, and communication with the care team.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state; BLS certification required.
• Prior experience in allergy/immunology, or ambulatory care preferred; training in allergen immunotherapy a plus.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; comfort working with diverse patient populations.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic environment and adhere to safety protocols.

This is a Stanford Health Care job. The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Able to communicate effectively in English.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• CA-RN (Registered Nurse).

• Frequent (please list each item under Comments). The work involves considerable exertion such as frequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending and stooping, and walking. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g. working with risk of exposure of contagious disease, radiation or infection, working with emotionally disturbed patients. Precautions are routine for nearly all situations. The employee might be required to use protective clothing or gear.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $96.35 - $111.14 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
