In this role, you'll negotiate complex design-build and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) contracts, serve as trusted project counsel to our teams, and help resolve disputes practically and proactively — all in service of the trust our clients place in our firm. You'll also assist with the management of our professional liability, builder's risk, and construction-specific insurance program, and handle risk management, licensing, and corporate governance strategy across our architecture, engineering, and construction management entities.This is a high-visibility role for an experienced construction/AEC attorney who wants to work closely with executive leadership and project teams, not just review paper from the sidelines.**What You'll Do****Contracts & Negotiation*** Review and negotiate design, EPC, design-build, and construction management contracts* Draft and modify AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and owner-drafted forms* Lead negotiations with Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement* Maintain the firm's contract and template library**Risk Management & Strategy*** Shape risk mitigation strategy with the Project Team* Advise on project selection risk and delivery methodology* Support business development through proactive contract terms and direct client engagement**Project Support & Dispute Resolution*** Guide teams through the project lifecycle — kickoff to close-out* Manage disputes: client discussions, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, settlements* Coordinate with insurers and outside counsel**What You'll Bring*** JD from an accredited law school* Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state* 5+ years in legal experience ideally with an Architecture, Engineering & Construction firm* Skilled in drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and CM contracts* Working knowledge of construction insurance, including professional liability* Willing to travel up to 15%#LI-AK1*At Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
