Highway Project Engineer

GFT is seeking a Highway Project Engineer to join our Transportation group in Morristown, NJ, East Brunswick, NJ or Marlton, NJ. What you’ll be challenged to do:As a Project Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of roadway and highway projects across New Jersey. You’ll support project execution for clients such as NJDOT, NJTA, and other area agencies, working under the direction of senior engineers and project managers. You’ll take ownership of design tasks, prepare plans and technical documents, support project management activities, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and to quality standards. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance to junior staff, while continuing to grow your technical expertise and client-facing experience in transportation infrastructure work.In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction supportDevelop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packagesEstablish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managersProvide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build highway projectsManage and mentor junior engineers on project assignmentsCoordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managersCoordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staffParticipate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performanceLead projects and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplinesProject QA/QCAssist project managers with other various tasksWhat you'll bring to our firm:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within one year8-10 years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway designProficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft OfficeNJDOT or NJTA design experienceStrong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindsetWhat we prefer you bring:Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3DNew Jersey client relationshipsCompensation:The range for this position is salary range is $115,000-$145,000.
