Job Summary:
Vista Plains Health in Harlowton, Montana is seeking an experienced  Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong Emergency Room/Trauma background to step into a highly independent, charge-level role within a Critical Access Hospital setting.

This position is primarily based in the Emergency Department , where you will often serve as the lead nurse on shift , working with a high level of autonomy and clinical responsibility. This is an ideal role for a seasoned ER nurse who is confident making decisions, managing patient flow, and functioning independently in a rural environment.

You will have the opportunity to practice at the top of your license , with occasional support on the inpatient/swing bed side as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Serve in a lead/charge nurse capacity during assigned shifts
• Provide high-quality emergency and trauma care across all age groups
• Perform rapid assessments, triage, stabilization, and interventions
• Independently manage patient care and prioritize in a fast-changing environment
• Coordinate care with providers, EMS, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Support a collaborative, team-oriented care environment

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
• Active Montana RN license (or ability to obtain)
• Minimum of 5 years of ER and/or Trauma nursing experience required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a charge role
• ACLS required
• PALS, TNCC, and/or NRP strongly preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills
