Mechanical DesignerElectro-Mechanical DesignerHouston, TX (Hybrid)Contract to HireCompensation: $50 - $60 per hourAbout The RoleOur client is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Designer for a contract-to-hire position based in Houston, TX, with a hybrid work arrangement. As part of the Mechanical Design Group, you will review customer requirements, specifications, and existing products to develop equipment systems and layouts. You will be responsible for providing assembly and detail drawings based on project electrical drawings and BOMs, and for creating system designs that include structural, mechanical, assembly, and sub-assemblies. Your work will be communicated through ACAD 3D and Solidworks drawings and associated BOMs. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to deliver production-level drawings with limited direction.What You'll DoInterpret electrical drawings, BOMs, general arrangement drawings, standard product assembly drawings, and company/industry standards for project requirementsDetermine proper sizing and spacing of power conductors, including bus bar and cablingCreate 3D models of products and subsequent detail drawings, sectional views, fabrication and assembly views, and BOM callouts using ACAD 3D and SolidworksGenerate documentation, including design specifications, to support manufacturing and assembly of productsCollaborate and interface with electrical, project, operations, field service, and sales teams to ensure project deliverablesConduct design reviews to verify adherence to customer specifications and industry standardsSupport internal and external production teams in resolving issues during manufacturing and assemblyExecute the design process from inception through deliveryAssist sales teams with project proposals and provide technical input as neededManage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environmentWhat You Bring10+ years of electro-mechanical design experience, preferably in power distribution, generator controls, VFDs, and MCCsHands-on knowledge of electrical systems, including switchgear, control panels, and VFDsProficient in ACAD 3D and Solidworks for system and structural design tasksExperience with weldments, skid design, sheet metal design, power distribution, and cable routingStrong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniquesFamiliarity with applicable codes (NEC, IEC, IEE, NFPA, ABS, and other relevant codes)Ability to interpret electrical drawings, BOMs, and general arrangement drawingsExperience in power systems and control panel layouts, with knowledge of clearance, operation, and maintenance constraintsEffective communication and collaboration skills for cross-departmental workSelf-starter capable of delivering production-level drawings with limited directionAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentMechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experienceDrilling application power systems experience is a plusWhat's In It For YouCompetitive medical, dental, and vision insuranceHealth Savings Account and Dependent Care FSASupplemental coverage options401k plan with company match and full vesting upon eligibilityPaid time off, sick time, and paid company holidaysEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) with services such as virtual counseling, financial and legal services, and life coachingFlexible work environmentAbout BrooksourceAt Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
