Staff Auditor - Public Accounting - Hybrid - $65-90k - Downingtown, Pa Our client, a well known public accounting firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Auditor to join our growing assurance practice. In this role, you will work closely with engagement teams to perform financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for a diverse portfolio of clients. This position offers an excellent foundation in public accounting, hands‑on mentorship from senior leadership, and a clear pathway toward obtaining your CPA license and advancing within the firm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures on low‑to‑medium risk financial statement accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and operating expenses. Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit workpapers that document the procedures performed and conclusions reached in compliance with GAAP and GAAS. Assist team members in evaluating, documenting, and testing client internal controls and business processes. Obtain and organize client financial data, trial balances, and supporting schedules, ensuring all outstanding items are tracked and resolved. Communicate professionally with client accounting personnel to gather information and address routine inquiries. Identify and document accounting or auditing issues encountered during field work and escalate them appropriately to the engagement Senior or Manager. Participate in year‑end client inventory observations and physical counts as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting. CPA Eligibility: Must meet the credit requirements to sit for the CPA exam, or be actively working toward licensure. Experience: Prior experience in public accounting is required. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with strong working knowledge of Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, data formatting). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Solid foundational understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and financial reporting standards. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction.
