HR Generalist (Temp-to-Hire) | Hybrid | Oakland, CA

Schedule & Location
Hybrid schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite; Monday and Friday remote
Oakland, CA, 1 min walk from 19th street BART station
Work hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Compensation
Competitive salary range of $65,000 - $75,000 annually
Flexibility for highly qualified candidates
Annual merit increases based on performance
Key Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs and serve as a resource for employee questions
- Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work processes
- Facilitate onboarding, new hire orientation, and employee paperwork
- Maintain HRIS records and personnel files
- Process benefits invoices and support benefits administration activities
- Respond to employee inquiries through the HR ticketing system
- Support compliance initiatives, policies, and HR best practices
- Assist with open enrollment planning, employee education, and issue resolution
- Partner with brokers and benefit providers to address employee needs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience
- Strong knowledge of: Benefits administration, Workers' compensation, Employee onboarding and orientation, HR compliance and recordkeeping, HRIS administration
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to build relationships and effectively support employees at all levels
Preferred:
- Nonprofit industry experience
- Experience supporting open enrollment and vendor management
