Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves providing patient care on a general medical surgical unit within an acute care setting. The role requires strong teamwork and communication skills, with responsibilities including monitoring patients, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient safety during 12-hour night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with weekend and holiday rotation. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, at least 1 year of experience in medical surgical nursing, active Illinois license or proof of application, and the ability to produce a negative drug screen for all panels.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in general medical-surgical units, strong teamwork, and communication skills.
• Float: Float rotation may be required; travel RNs are the first to float, otherwise, float assignments are on a rotation basis of last who floated.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes specify the need for gen med/surgical experience.
  • The unit has a patient ratio of 1:4/5 on nights, with PCTs available 24 hours a day at a ratio of 1:10.
  • No vents; some patients on telemetry monitored via Phillips monitors at a central station.
  • The unit utilizes the EPIC charting system.
  • Staffing includes a charge nurse and house supervisor 24/7, with patient assignments sometimes taking on a charge nurse if short-staffed.
