SailPoint Engineer

As a Identity & Access Management Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions leveraging SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) and SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC). This role will contribute to advancing the clients identity security strategy by delivering scalable identity lifecycle management, governance, provisioning, and access certification capabilities across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader, collaborating with business stakeholders, application owners, HR teams, and technology partners to implement modern identity governance solutions, automate business processes, improve compliance, and strengthen the clients security posture. This role will play a key part in onboarding applications, integrating authoritative identity sources, driving IAM modernization initiatives, and promoting identity governance best practices.

What You'll Work On:

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Design & Implementation - Drive technical projects to design, develop, implement, and enhance SailPoint IdentityIQ and Identity Security Cloud solutions that support enterprise identity governance, lifecycle management, access certification, and provisioning requirements.

• Application Integration & Onboarding - Lead onboarding and integration of enterprise applications, cloud services, and authoritative identity sources using SailPoint connectors, REST APIs, SCIM, JDBC, web services, and other integration technologies.

• Identity Lifecycle Management - Design, implement, and maintain automated joiner, mover, and leaver processes, provisioning workflows, identity attribute mappings, and lifecycle management solutions to support business and compliance requirements.

• Identity Governance & Access Control - Configure and manage role-based access control (RBAC) models, access certifications, policy enforcement frameworks, role mining initiatives, and governance processes that improve security and regulatory compliance.

• Platform Support & Operations - Provide ongoing operational support for SailPoint IdentityIQ and Identity Security Cloud environments, including troubleshooting incidents, resolving provisioning failures, supporting service requests, documenting changes, and facilitating change management activities.

• Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity - Configure, deploy, and maintain SailPoint ISC Virtual Appliances and hybrid connectivity architectures to support secure identity management across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

• Automation & Workflow Development - Design and enhance SailPoint workflows, automation capabilities, and integration services to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and streamline identity-related processes.

• Issue Identification & Avoidance - Proactively identify recurring issues, synchronization errors, identity correlation challenges, and integration defects within complex IAM environments. Implement sustainable solutions that improve platform stability and user experience.

• Security Advocacy & Education - Evangelize identity security policies, governance standards, and access management best practices. Develop documentation and guidance materials that help business teams understand identity governance processes and requirements.

• Modernization & Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to optimize IAM processes, reduce technical debt, adopt modern SailPoint capabilities, and improve overall effectiveness of the enterprise identity governance program.

• Transition & Operational Readiness - Ensure successful transition of project deliverables into operational support processes through documentation, knowledge transfer, validation testing, and support readiness activities.

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship - Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other IAM team members while promoting engineering excellence, consistency, and identity governance best practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.

• Advanced degree and/or relevant professional certifications preferred.

• Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) engineering, architecture, or operations.

• Extensive hands-on experience with SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) and SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC/IdentityNow).

• Strong understanding of Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), identity lifecycle management, provisioning, access governance, and compliance requirements.

• Experience developing integrations using REST APIs, SCIM, JDBC, web services, and SailPoint connector frameworks.

• Experience with scripting and automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, BeanShell, or similar languages.

• Strong understanding of directory services and identity platforms including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.

Preferred Experience:

• Proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise-scale SailPoint IdentityIQ and Identity Security Cloud environments.

• Expertise designing and supporting lifecycle management workflows, provisioning and deprovisioning solutions, and automated identity governance processes.

• Experience integrating HR systems, including Workday, and implementing HR-driven identity lifecycle management capabilities.

• Strong experience configuring ISC sources, identity profiles, transforms, provisioning policies, identity mappings, and identity correlation processes.

• Experience managing access certification campaigns, RBAC models, role mining initiatives, segregation of duties controls, and policy enforcement frameworks.

• Knowledge of SailPoint ISC Virtual Appliances, hybrid identity architectures, and cloud application connectivity strategies.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot synchronization issues, integration failures, provisioning

This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $105.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
