Reports to: Dean of Science Technology, Engineering, and Math Date: September 10, 2026 General Summary: Middlesex Community College seeks to fill part-time chemistry faculty positions in college chemistry I (CHE 131) and college chemistry II (CHE 132) in-person lecture and laboratory courses beginning the spring 2027 semester. The College's part-time science faculty are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working with the College's diverse students and community. The College is committed to hiring creative and knowledgeable individuals that have expertise in this area. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide instruction for a group of up to 24 students in a classroom Ability to instruct in at least one of the following courses: College Chemistry I (CHE 131), College Chemistry II (CHE 132) Develop and use student-centered pedagogies Develop and use assessment strategies that maximize the developmental learning process and measure student learning outcomes Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom Use Blackboard Learning Management System to post syllabi, assignments, and grades Participate in the end-of-the-term grading session of a common final assessment Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association Requirements: Master's degree in chemistry, or closely related field Classroom teaching of high school or college science courses Demonstrated commitment to diversity, continuous professional improvement, developmental education, inclusive pedagogies and use of technology to support student learning Willingness to work collegially with a diverse body of faculty and staff Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills a plus Working knowledge of MS Word, Blackboard LMS, and PC Additional Information: Salary Range: DCE adjunct faculty members are paid in accordance with the DCE salary step schedule which is as follows: Location: Lowell or Bedford campus Hours: Adjunct faculty may be assigned to teach up to three courses per semester Expected Start Date: January 2027 Application Deadline: This position will remain open until filled Pre-Employment Requirements: The College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
