Senior Plumbing Designer

Senior Plumbing DesignerA growing plumbing contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Designer to lead the design and coordination of commercial plumbing systems from concept through construction. This role is responsible for producing high-quality plumbing designs, mentoring junior designers, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to deliver accurate, code-compliant construction documents.Projects include commercial, multifamily, healthcare, education, hospitality, retail, industrial, and tenant improvement work. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical leader who enjoys solving complex design challenges and collaborating throughout the design-build process.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of commercial plumbing systems from schematic design through constructionPrepare detailed plumbing drawings using AutoCAD and RevitDesign domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm, natural gas, and specialty piping systemsPerform plumbing design calculations and equipment sizingCoordinate plumbing systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplinesReview shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and design revisionsMentor junior designers and provide technical guidanceWork closely with Project Managers, engineers, and field teams during design and constructionEnsure designs comply with UPC, IPC, ADA, and local building codesParticipate in project meetings and support construction throughout project deliveryProject TypesCommercial BuildingsMultifamily HousingHealthcare FacilitiesEducational FacilitiesHospitalityRetailIndustrialTenant ImprovementsDesign-Build Plumbing SystemsRequirements7+ years of plumbing design experienceStrong commercial plumbing design experience requiredProficiency with Revit and AutoCADExperience designing domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm, and gas systemsStrong understanding of UPC, IPC, and local plumbing codesExperience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teamsAbility to review drawings for quality control and constructabilityStrong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design Technology, or related fieldExperience with multifamily, healthcare, education, hospitality, or commercial projectsDesign-build project experience preferredFamiliarity with LEED and sustainable design practicesExperience mentoring junior designers and reviewing technical workCompensation & BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid holidays and PTOProfessional development and continuing education opportunitiesESOP
