About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in dialysis License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Experience with patient ratios of 2:1 - Proficiency with the Epic charting system - Ability to cannulate AV fistulas and grafts - Experience with acute care inpatient dialysis Description: The position requires a registered nurse specializing in dialysis. Nurses will care for patients with end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, and metabolic imbalances. The patient population includes those requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatments. Patients are often acutely ill with various medical-surgical and critical care diagnoses. The hemodialysis department provides services 24/7. The facility is equipped with telemetry monitoring and offers an isolation room for specific patient needs. Nursing care is provided around the clock through a dedicated team of registered nurses. Support staff includes certified hemodialysis technicians and a nursing secretary. Cardiac monitoring is an essential responsibility for nurses treating patients requiring surveillance. The average length of stay for patients undergoing hemodialysis or apheresis is 4-5 hours. Treatments for hemodynamically unstable patients may occur in their rooms with the nurse present. Peritoneal dialysis is performed in the patient's room as well. Additional interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The average daily census consists of approximately 20 dialysis orders. Nurses will float to various campuses as needed and be on call only on Sunday nights. Candidates are required to have experience with the required certifications.
