Session: Summer (May - August) Position Title: Park Management Intern Hiring Manager: David Shepherd Agency: Department of Game, Fish & Parks Location: Lake Preston - Lake Thompson Recreation Area Minimum Salary: $20.82/hr APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER. Position Description Interns will be assigned a variety of duties that will help them gain knowledge and experience needed to work in South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. Duties will include, but are not limited to; learning the Point of Sale system and being able to troubleshoot problems for other employees, customer service skills, basic building and grounds maintenance including operation of power tools, riding mowers and chainsaws, organizational and leadership skills, and educating visitors to park rules and enforce them as needed. Housing available on site if needed. Qualifications Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
