Test Technician I (Instrument Testing) – Sparks, MD (Onsite)
Location: Sparks, MD 21152
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (OT as needed)
Pay: $24.18/hr
Summary
Hiring a Test Technician I to support instrument testing in a production environment. This role combines hands-on assembly support with complete system analysis, functional/release testing, and troubleshooting using pass/fail criteria. Ideal for candidates with strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills who can analyze test results, identify issues, and drive performance improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional and release testing on moderately complex instruments
- Analyze test data to determine pass/fail and take next-step actions for failures
- Troubleshoot non-functioning test equipment/instruments (electrical, mechanical, and basic software)
- Optimize instrument performance (ex: movement precision and/or light systems) using test results
- Identify defects and escalate testing/quality issues; recommend process improvements
- Read drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards
- Support production activities, documentation, housekeeping/5S, and safety requirements
- Train/assist associates as needed; interface with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing
Qualifications
- AA in Mechatronics (or related) OR 5+ years of troubleshooting experience (electrical/mechanical/software)
- Experience with functional testing, pass/fail criteria, and data-based troubleshooting
- Comfortable with mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, hand tools) and basic PC/Windows use
- Strong math/analytical skills, time management, and communication
