Financial Operations Analyst

Supervisor : Director of Budget and Finance Bring Your Full Range of Accounting Skills to the Table – $30.00/hr Location: Flowood, MS | Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:30–5:30 This role touches nearly every corner of our accounting department, and we’re looking for someone with the well-rounded experience to match. From reconciliations and journal entries to analyzing financial statements, preparing audit work papers, and applying GAAP day to day, this position calls for someone who’s comfortable across the full range of core accounting work. If you’re detail-driven, technically strong, and ready for a role where no two days touch the same part of the ledger, this could be a great fit. (Note: Employees of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation are not considered state employees.) What You’ll Do: Prepare and reconcile bank statements and assigned balance sheet accounts. Prepare journal entries and assist in analyzing financial statements. Reconcile the weekly retailer sweep (retailer fund transfers) and manage unclaimed prize funds. Process miscellaneous and promotional prizes, including inventory tracking and reconciliation. Manage the company vehicle fleet, including budgeting, maintenance records, and reporting. Handle purchase requisitions in line with company policy. Maintain capital asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and lease activity. Organize and monitor vendor contracts. Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis. Support annual audit prep by pulling together financial work papers and documentation. Serve as backup Player Claims Specialist, processing prize claims when needed. Help identify and strengthen internal controls and financial reporting processes. Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (relevant experience also considered). Have 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting. Have experience preparing journal entries and analyzing financial statements. Bring strong Excel skills, including building and maintaining financial models. Have hands‑on experience with accounting software, reconciliations, and budget variance analysis. Know your way around GAAP and financial compliance standards. Communicate clearly and collaborate well across departments. Bring sharp attention to detail and solid time management.
