Software EngineerASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Second Level Engineering team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a full-time on-site position at the William J Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace (WJHTCAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.Citizenship RequirementAll candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.RealID Driver's License/ID or current US Passport.Relocation RequirementCandidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.Education & Experience RequirementAll non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related IT fields, with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted in lieu of the computer science degree, depending on other qualifications and experience.Three (3) to six (6) years of experience is required.NAS experience is desired.Required SkillsExperience with:Core Java Development: Java, Spring Boot, and MavenContainerization & Deployment: Containerization using Docker or Podman; including but not limited to developing, deploying, packaging, port mapping, networking, etc.Familiarity with:Publish/Subscribe messaging and enterprise messaging technologies such as JMS, Solace or Apache Camel.Web servicesVersion control systems (e.g., Git).Ability to:Work independently, as well as on a team, in a fast-paced environment.Navigate complex workflows; research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things.Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.Preferred SkillsTesting & Quality: Test?Driven Development (TDD), Test development using Junit and/or Mockito.Ansible automation.DevOps experience such as using Jenkins or GitlabFamiliar with Java OOP design patternEssential Daily Job DutiesEdit, develop, adjust existing Java code base.Manage applications in a Linux environment.Develop automation code in bash, ansible, or gitlab.Convert Java middleware application code in virtual machine environment to containerized application code.Support software deployment and operation teams.Work EnvironmentFull-time position with a standard work schedule; occasional evening support.Cubicle environment.We invest in the lives of our employees, both in and out of the workplace, by providing competitive pay and benefits packages.
