Position Overview:

\n

My client is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a team of electrical engineers responsible for developing and sustaining complex aerospace electronic systems and products.

\n

This position combines hands-on technical leadership with engineering team management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical engineering, circuit design, PCB development, and technical problem-solving, along with the ability to mentor engineers and manage multiple engineering initiatives.

\n

\n

This is a working leadership position requiring direct involvement in technical decisions, design reviews, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working within a smaller, highly collaborative engineering team while supporting the resources and technical capabilities of an established aerospace and defense organization.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Provide technical leadership and management for electrical engineering product development and sustaining programs.
\n
• Lead and mentor electrical engineers, providing hands-on technical guidance in circuit design, PCB development, electrical systems, and troubleshooting.
\n
• Manage the design, development, and testing of electrical systems, components, and products to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including MIL-PRF-38534.
\n
• Support electrical circuit architecture, board-level design, and technical design reviews.
\n
• Provide technical direction involving DC/DC converters, power systems, and hybrid circuit technologies.
\n
• Identify and mitigate electrical design risks involving thermal management, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radiation effects.
\n
• Plan and allocate engineering resources across multiple projects while maintaining schedules, quality, and technical objectives.
\n
• Establish, manage, and monitor departmental budgets.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives involving engineering processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality.
\n
• Support employee development, technical training, team building, and engineering career advancement.
\n
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges.
\n
• Provide technical assistance to Business Development in support of new business opportunities and company growth.
\n
• Maintain the appropriate engineering skill mix to support customer requirements and business objectives.
\n
• Develop and maintain relationships with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to support product development.
\n
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
\n

Required Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related technical discipline.
\n
• Minimum of 7 years of related electrical engineering experience.
\n
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or technical leadership experience.
\n
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit design, electrical architecture, and board-level development.
\n
• Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting electronic circuits, circuit boards, or electrical systems.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and resolve engineering problems beyond system-level integration.
\n
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and supporting engineering development activities.
\n
• Knowledge of relevant electrical engineering standards, practices, and procedures.
\n
• Advanced skills in employee development, team building, business acumen, continuous improvement, systems and tools, project management, and written and verbal communication.
\n
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple projects, allocate engineering resources, and work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
\n
• Self-motivated leadership approach with the ability to balance technical responsibilities and people management.

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Experience with DC/DC converter design, power conversion, or power electronics.
\n
• Background in aerospace, defense, space, or other highly regulated electronics industries.
\n
• Experience developing high-reliability electronic products or systems.
\n
• Familiarity with hybrid circuit technologies and MIL-PRF-38534 requirements.
\n
• Knowledge of thermal management, EMI, and radiation-related design considerations.
\n
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary product development environment.
\n
