Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; holiday rotation may be required

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $56.00 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional patient care across a dynamic MS/Tele float pool
• Monitor and assess adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal and post-surgical needs
• Titrate heparin drips with confidence and precision
• Float across multiple units including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma and ED Obs
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aids and respiratory therapists to keep patients safe and stable
• Document accurately in EPIC and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Adapt quickly to new units while maintaining 1:5-6 patient ratios based on acuity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license, with license ready to submit
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Prior neuro experience is a plus, not a dealbreaker
• Comfortable floating to ICU for low acuity holds, PCU/Stepdown and MS/Tele units
• Must live 60 miles or more from the facility and provide a driver's license
• Available to be in state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are remote

Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients "Population: Adults- Geriatrics
• Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology-post surgicals, General Surgery-post appy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, General Medicine, stable long term placement patients, and more"
• Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience
• Prefer prior neuro experience"
• Are RNs required to titrate drips? Heparin
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Designated Charge on each unit
• doesn't take a patient assignment unless necessary
• more common for night shift charge to end up with a small pt assignment
• Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes
• RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, etc) Yes
• Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "7-7, Schedule is made out by leadership for 6 wks at a time, travelers are expected to be flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. All time off requests need to be submitted prior to starting assignment"
• Weekend Requirements 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule
• Holiday Requirements May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation
• Is there a call or standby requirement? Rare, for low census
• How are units assigned? i.e. via text message, daily sheet assignments, set schedule? "May be asked to float into any other acuity level
• ICU (take low acuity holds with skillset), PCU/Stepdown, & MS-Tele.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Any Color
• Unit/Department specific orientation 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Specialty: MS/Tele Float

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MS/Tele and telemetry clinical skills
• Heparin titration know-how
• EPIC charting experience
• Neuro patient care familiarity
• Excellent communication and teamwork
• Flexibility and adaptability in a float pool setting
• Time management in a fast-paced acute care environment
