Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Holding Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Department License: Current Registered Nurse Licensure in California Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Willingness to float to Medical/Surgical/Telemetry when not utilized in Emergency Room Holding - Understanding of evidence-based practice - Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacological implications Description: The role consists of providing care in an Emergency Room Holding setting. The nurse must demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practices. They should possess knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacological implications. Accurate and thorough documentation of assessments is required. Clinical procedures such as IV insertion, Foley catheterization, and dressing changes must be performed competently. Providing effective patient and family education is essential. The nurse meets standards in the proper use of tele monitoring, intravenous therapy, and safe medication administration. Recognizing changes in a patient's condition is critical. The nurse will act as a patient advocate and work independently as well as part of a team. Constructive feedback should be accepted positively. A professional appearance must be maintained at all times. Tasks should be completed within designated timeframes. Initiative and follow-up on responsibilities are expected. The position may require working with patients across various age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatrics.
