We are looking for an Assistant Manager who is passionate about customer service, team development, and creating a positive experience for both our guests and employees. In this role, you will assist with hiring and training team members, ensure company policies and procedures are followed, help resolve customer concerns, lead and support the team, create team schedules, and assist the General Manager with day-to-day operations.

Summary

The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in the day-to-day operation of the theater, helping ensure every guest has an exceptional movie-going experience. This role assists with leading and developing team members, overseeing daily operations, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed. The Assistant Manager helps drive operational success by providing excellent guest service, resolving concerns, supporting staffing and training efforts, and serving as the manager on duty when needed.

Decision-Making Authority & Accountability

To create clear accountability and to limit company liability, the Assistant Manager's authority is defined as follows:

Authorized to act independently, within Company policy:

• Day-to-day scheduling, shift coverage, and floor assignments.
• Routine coaching conversations and verbal coaching, documented per policy.
• Guest service recovery within established policy limits (comps, refunds, etc.).
• Daily cash handling, register counts, and shift-level deposits per Company cash control procedures.
• Daily safety, sanitation, and compliance inspections and immediate corrective action for routine issues.

Requires prior consultation with Direct Supervisors:

• Hiring decisions and offers of employment.
• Any formal written discipline, suspension, or termination.
• Policy exceptions, including scheduling, pay, or accommodation requests.
• Resolution of cash discrepancies beyond routine shift variance thresholds.

Must escalate immediately to Direct Supervisors, HR

• Workplace injuries (employee or guest), and any injury requiring medical attention.
• Harassment, discrimination, or retaliation complaints of any kind.
• Suspected theft, fraud, or policy violations involving cash or inventory.
• Alcohol service incidents, including suspected over-service or service to a minor.
• Any situation involving law enforcement, media, or threat of legal action.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures each guest receives outstanding service in a guest-friendly, well-maintained environment.
• Performs and supervises duties across Concession, Box Office, Kitchen, and Usher areas, and other functions as assigned.
• Assists the General Manager with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training; extends final hiring decisions only after conferring with the General Manager.
• Supports daily goals, tasks, and assignments at the assigned location.
• Answers guest questions and resolve complaints courteously and within policy; escalates matters outside the role's authority.
• Completes daily inventory counts and cash-outs of registers at the end of shift, and reconciles receipts (cash, credit, coupons, gift cards, checks, discount tickets).
• Upholds and administers all Company policies and standards as outlined in company guides and support office directives.
• Monitors promptly report risk management concerns, including employee/guest safety, loss prevention, proper handling of food and alcohol, and emergency situations.
• Comply with all food safety rules and maintain Health Department rules and regulations.
• Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and business interruptions per company protocol.
• Supports hiring, training, developing, mentoring, supervising, coaching, and scheduling of employees; formal discipline, suspension, and termination are carried out only after conferring with the General Manager.
• Properly completes and maintains all required paperwork and documentation in support of company policy and audit readiness.
• Pours and serves alcoholic beverages in compliance with California and/or Idaho liquor laws and Company policy; completes Responsible Beverage Server training and obtains any state-required certification (e.g., RBS) prior to serving.
• Keeps the theatre clean, orderly, and consistent with Company standards.
• Watches for and reports safety or security concerns (trip hazards, lighting, suspicious activity, etc.).
• Reviews and understands the Company’s Operations Manual and required training materials, including anti-harassment and discrimination training.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Leadership
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance is required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience as a senior staff member, shift lead, or assistant manager preferred. Consistent, verifiable work history required.

Certifications

Must complete Responsible Beverage Server training and obtain any legally required state or local alcohol server certification (e.g., California RBS or Idaho equivalent) prior to serving alcohol, and obtain a Food Handler Certification where required by state or local jurisdiction.
