Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Float Pool PCU position requiring a WA or compact RN license and 2+ years of relevant acute care experience, primarily supporting the ED Holding unit on night shift.

Details

• Nursing Float Pool position primarily supporting the ED Holding unit within a hospital setting
• 12-hour night shift schedule totaling 36 hours per week
• Mixed diagnosis patient population with ratios of ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, and MS 1:5 depending on assignment
• Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg patient types
• May also serve in ACLS transport role, moving patients throughout the hospital including ED, CT, MRI, PACU, and Cath Lab
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Partial-shift floating required within scope of practice
• Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs
• No on-call, holiday requests, or self-scheduling permitted

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant acute care setting (ICU, PCU, or Med-Surg) required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and IV medication titration (Amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, etc)
• Traveler Telemetry Competency required
• Strong communication and patient teaching/education skills required

Additional Information

• When assigned to ACLS transport, assist ED Holding unit with breaks and medication administration after 2300
• Orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation followed by 1 day on the assigned unit
• Must contact staffing office 30-45 minutes prior to each shift to receive unit assignment
• Must arrive on time to the assigned unit by 0700 or 1900 with no early clock-in permitted
• Schedules are provided 3 weeks at a time, distributed approximately 10 days in advance
• Time off requests up to 5 days may be approved, with additional days requiring manager approval and extension of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
