A Step Down Unit Nurse specializing in evenings, nights, and weekends is sought in a medical-surgical setting. The position involves providing comprehensive care to patients with a focus on cardiac conditions, stroke, and other acute diagnoses. The role requires the ability to titrate drips, interpret monitor strips, and collaborate with hospitalist and intensivist teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, working a minimum of 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday rotation.
• Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license, Certifications including BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least 2 years of clinical experience in a relevant setting.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes include 28 beds with private rooms, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 (up to 1:6 for MedSurg acuity).
  • EMR systems used are Cerner and EPIC.
  • Charge nurse/House supervisor role with no assignments during night shifts.
  • Critical care skills include titrating drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin.
  • In-house hospitalist available 24/7, with intensivist coverage in ICU from 7a-7p.
  • Ability to read and interpret monitor strips required, as the RN is responsible for central monitor management.
  • Floating to ICU may be required as helping hands.
  • Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shifts with a preceptor.
  • Must be willing to wait for license submission and hold a valid license to submit.
