LEADERSHIP AT AUG PREP
Aug Prep leaders live by the apostle Luke’s guidance that to whom much is given, much is expected (Luke 12:48). Leadership at Aug Prep is a “never settle,” dynamic drive to serve our students and reflect the light of Jesus. The right candidate vehemently believes excellence is possible for every student. Grounded with a desire to serve and glorify God, an Aug Prep leader challenges themself and those around them daily to reach high, energetically hurdling obstacles and getting right back up when they fall (Colossians 3:17). Leadership at Aug Prep is not easy but is rewarding, exhilarating, impactful and absolutely never dull (Galatians 6:9).
In This Role, You Will :
The Director of Teaching and Learning at Aug Prep is a mission-driven instructional leader focused on ensuring every student experiences rigorous, joyful, and Christ-centered classrooms every day. Leading either K4–5 or 6–12, this role strengthens the core of teaching and learning—driving high-quality curriculum implementation, building teacher capacity through coaching, and using data driven methods to improve student outcomes. Partnering closely with school-level principals and instructional leaders, the Director helps translate vision into excellent classroom practice, ensuring consistency, alignment, and impact across school-levels and campuses. This is an opportunity to directly shape the student experience at scale in a high-performing, faith-filled community committed to excellence for every child.
[Important Note: This role supports teaching and learning across Aug Prep, with primary responsibility for either grades K4-5 OR grades 6-12 (opposite the Senior Director’s primary focus). The Director partners closely with the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure strong alignment and a seamless K4-12 academic experience across both campuses. Candidates should indicate their grade-band preference in their application.]
Team and Strategic Leadership
- Serve as an academic leader for either grades K4-5 or 6-12, supporting strategy, execution, and outcomes for that grade band while ensuring alignment to Aug Prep’s instructional vision and academic priorities.
- Partner closely with the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure coherence, alignment, and quality of teaching and learning across the full K4-12 model.
- Act as a key partner to principals and school leaders (including but not limited to principals, assistant principals, and instructional coaches) across campuses, supporting alignment, sharing best practices, and strengthening consistent implementation of Aug Prep’s academic model - without direct supervisory responsibility.
- Support the execution of system-wide academic priorities, ensuring clarity, follow-through, and consistency across schools and grade levels.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with principals, instructional leaders, teachers, and staff to foster collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence.
- Model a mission-driven, team-first mindset, approaching the work with humility, flexibility, and a willingness to serve wherever needed.
Curriculum Strategy and Implementation
- Lead the evaluation and selection of high-quality instructional materials and curriculum for your grade band, including ongoing re-evaluation to ensure alignment, rigor, and demonstrated impact on student outcomes.
- Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum, ensuring coherence and consistency across campuses and grade bands.
- Partner with principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to support strong implementation, monitor fidelity, and address challenges in curriculum execution.
- Support the design and delivery of standards-aligned professional learning, reinforcing instructional coherence and Christ-centered, rigorous, and joy-filled classrooms.
Coaching and Instructional Excellence
- Establish and sustain a culture of trust, reflective practice, and actionable feedback that drives continuous improvement across teams and campuses.
- Partner with principals and instructional leaders to strengthen execution of Aug Prep’s coaching model, including planning, observation, feedback, and follow-through.
- Coach and support instructional leaders and teachers, building capacity through aligned, high-impact feedback and support.
- Ensure coaching practices are consistent and differentiated, meeting the needs of teachers while aligning to network expectations.
- Support strong PLC implementation, partnering with school leaders to ensure collaboration is focused on student learning and continuous improvement.
Data-Driven Instruction & Continuous Improvement
- Lead analysis of instructional trends and student outcomes, identifying gaps across subgroups, grade levels, and content areas, and recommending strategic actions. Clearly communicate insights to leadership and teachers to drive aligned action.
- Partner with principals and school leaders to turn data into action, modeling strong data meetings, coaching facilitation, and ensuring follow-through on instructional adjustments, interventions, and progress monitoring.
- Oversee academic performance across campuses and grade bands, facilitating regular data meetings to analyze results, monitor progress (MAP, interim, ACT, grades), and drive clear, actionable next steps.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director and Data team to support systems that track instructional effectiveness and student outcomes across the K4-12 model.
What We’re Looking For
- A belief in the God-given ability of every child and a commitment to ensuring excellence for each student.
- 5+ years of experience in education, including 2+ years in instructional leadership. Advanced degree in education, curriculum, or educational leadership strongly preferred. State teaching license not required.
- Active participation in a Christian church.
- A data-driven leader with a strong track record of improving academic outcomes and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear action.
- Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and national trends related to serving diverse learners.
- Demonstrated success building relationships that positively influence others toward excellence.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and professional development facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences.
- Strong project leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to balance big-picture priorities while driving progress toward annual goals and objectives.
- Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
- Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of St. Augustine Prep.
