This Apprentice 309A Electrician role involves supporting installation, maintenance, and service work on electrical systems, primarily in commercial environments, including a project in a commercial office space in Orangeville, ON. You will work on both new construction and service tasks, collaborating with an experienced team while adhering to strict safety standards and using electrical drawings, schematics, and digital plans.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
• Perform work with PVC, EMT, and conduit, including pulling wire and installing fixtures and other electrical devices.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams, including digital drawings on tablets.
• Use personal tools, including drills and impact guns, to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient project completion and adherence to timelines.
• Follow safety protocols and comply with all applicable electrical codes and regulations at all times.
• Carry out service work on various sites, including troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues.
• Contribute to overall installation quality by maintaining a strong focus on detail and workmanship.
• Participate in documenting completed work, as required, using technology such as tablets.
• Support, when needed, the training and mentoring of other apprentices on site.

Essential Skills

• Registered 309A Apprentice Electrician at Level 3, 4, or 5.
• At least 3 years of electrical experience, preferably in commercial construction or high-rise environments.
• Proven experience with PVC, EMT, and conduit installation, as well as general electrical installations.
• Experience performing both service and installation work in commercial or high-rise residential settings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Skills in wiring, pulling wire, and conduit bending.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools, including drills and impact guns.
• Experience with low voltage systems.
• Valid Working at Heights certification.
• Valid Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification.
• Valid WHMIS certification.
• Completion of "4 steps" or equivalent health and safety training.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction and high-rise residential projects.
• Experience with commercial lighting and lighting system installations.
• Comfort with technology, including using tablets (e.g., iPads) to read drawings and plans.
• Ability to train and mentor other apprentices on site.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to following electrical codes and best practices.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to varying site conditions and project requirements.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based on commercial construction sites, including a project in a commercial office building in Orangeville, ON. You will work a day shift, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position is site-to-site, requiring travel between different project locations. You will use power tools such as drills and impact guns and operate mobile elevated work platforms while following strict safety procedures. The work environment includes active construction sites, sometimes at heights, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and the specific demands of commercial electrical construction.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orangeville, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.58/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
