Job Summary:

The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care under the guidance and the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is also responsible for applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in accordance with policy and procedure, practicing radiation safety methods at all times.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates flexibility to meet staffing needs of the department and organization.
• Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric populations.
• Identifies patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation.
• Uses proper positioning and technical factors to obtain high quality images.
• Proficiently operates radiographic equipment.
• Is in compliance with all radiation safety standards.
• Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Will assist with procedures, will be competent in all waive testing and splinting needs.
• Supports patient's rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and religious diversity.

Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Formal radiologic technology training in AMA approved school. Must be ARRT registered and IEMA licensed unrestricted. BLS certification required.

Experience Requirements: Preferred two years' experience in an acute care radiology position.
