This role specializes in performing Cardiac, General, and Special Nuclear Medicine procedures within a comprehensive teaching institution. Key Responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist

• Receives, reviews, and evaluates physician orders; coordinates patient condition/history verification
• Conducts consultations with patients and family members, obtaining medical history
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area; manages equipment and supply inventory
• Acts as a point of contact for Nuclear Medicine inquiries from medical personnel and families
• Prepares scanners and equipment for various scans; ensures operational functionality
• Manages state and NRC records for isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals
• Explains procedures and preparation instructions to patients and families
• Prepares patients for examinations, verifying identification and medications
• Performs intravenous injections and administers radioactive isotopes
• Conducts regular quality control on Nuclear Medicine scanners and related equipment

Requirements of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist

• Must hold a valid state license
• ARRT and BLS certifications required
• Competence in operating Nuclear Medicine scanners and patient consultation
• Experience with EPIC scheduling and Radiant environment
• Familiarity with DOT and IEMA regulations
