Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Lab Manager

Golden Star Labs is leading the industry in science and innovation to better support communities and institution's testing needs across the United States. We are looking for an experienced CLS with a microbiology or generalist classification to join our team to carry out laboratory tests and analytical processes in order to detect SARS-CoV-2.

Principal Accountabilities

• The role holder is responsible for the operational delivery of a quality SARS-Cov-2 laboratory testing program, executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon
• Develops appropriate supply chain strategy to mitigate any issues with consumable supplies and ensures supply meets testing demands and forecasts
• Delivery of improved operational flow to increase capacity
• Implementation of quality control processes
• Collaborates with external consultants when needed
• Defines improved equipment & technology for increased test service capacity
• Develops and/or implement the appropriate laboratory safety policies and procedures, training, and adherence
• Assist with hands on testing procedures
• Develops standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments for all operational process flows from sample receipt through to result interpretation
• Timely and accurate completion of all documentation and analyses
• To strictly adhere to CDC precautions and correct use of PPE
• Primary point of contact of the client management team and White Label team
• Escalation of any issues or problems to the Operations/Account Manager
• Participate in the recruitment of new team members
• Responsible for planning daily, weekly workload in alignment with project timeline and ensuring issues are recorded and communicated appropriately.
• Responsible for managing the team to be in compliance with HR processes (oversight of holidays, sickness, etc)
• Ensure all team members are fully trained in all aspects of their roles prior to execution of any tasks
• Ensure that all activities performed by his/her team adhere to all standards safety and security standards
• The role holder is accountable for ensuring that all activities are delivered demonstrating behaviors and values aligned to WLCL Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards and procedures; including accountability for complaint management of Budget, Safety, Health and Environment
• Communication with key stakeholders on the progress against the deliverables and timeline

Qualifications and Experience/Essential

• Master's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science along with at least 8-10 years practical experience
• Experience working in a SARS-Cov-2 Laboratory and practical set-up
• Have good knowledge of microbiology, ideally virology and diagnostic techniques
• Have extensive experience of high-volume microbiology or virology testing in a laboratory
• Competent in the use of LIMS or equivalent IT platforms
• Good understanding of OSHA, COLA, CAP and CLIA regulations and requirements
• Experience in developing SOPs and Risk Assessments
• Project management skills, ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
• Experience of working with Quality Management Systems
• Proven customer service focus, ability to work collaboratively
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and confidence to make clear decisions sometimes with limited information
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Efficient using Microsoft office – e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word
• Excellent communication skills to be able to work across a fast-paced organizational team
• Experience of managing/supervising teams including training
• Lean methodologies

Education and Certification

• Masters or PhD in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science
• Clinical Laboratory Scientist License

Desirable

• Experience working in a GXP environment
• LIMS Super user
