Registered Nurse - Recovery Room - Pre-op

This position requires a registered nurse to work in the pre-operative area for cardiac patients. The nurse will assist in prepping patients for surgery, primarily cardiac cases. When not engaged with cardiac patients, the nurse will assist with general pre-op patients. Services offered include trauma, orthopedic, gynecological, gastrointestinal, urology, thoracic, neurology, endoscopy, and pediatric surgeries. Patient ratios are 1:1 for cardiac patients and generally 1:2 for other patients. Nurses will act as a liaison between anesthesia in the operating room and needs outside of the operating room. Call duties include being on-call for cardiac cases one week night and one weekend per month. The nurse will participate in a rotating schedule with varying hours. Call response time is set at 30 minutes. Some holiday on-call responsibilities may be required. The nursing staff includes support personnel, such as charge nurses and phlebotomists available 24/7. The nurse will float to assist in the general pre-op area as needed.
