Tax Accountant
Our client, a growing and well-established organization in Hartland, WI with operations across multiple regions, is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support compliance and reporting efforts related to taxes and regulatory filings. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multi-entity environment where you will contribute to maintaining compliance, improving processes, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working across systems and departments. This is a full-time, direct hire position that is fully onsite.
Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit multi-state sales and use tax returns ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Maintain compliance schedules to track filing deadlines, payments, and required registrations - Interpret and apply evolving tax rules and regulations to support ongoing compliance efforts - Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure proper handling of transaction-related tax treatment - Assist with audit requests by gathering documentation, performing research, and helping resolve inquiries - Review and respond to notices or inquiries from regulatory agencies, ensuring timely resolution - Coordinate and maintain required business registrations, licenses, and filings across various regions - Leverage tax technology tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of processes - Support vendor documentation compliance and annual reporting activities - Prepare periodic entries and perform reconciliations related to tax accounts within the general ledger - Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes tied to tax-related accounts - Provide support for risk management-related documentation, including maintaining records and assisting with claims coordination
Requirements for Tax Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required - 3+ years of experience in tax, accounting, or compliance-focused roles - Experience supporting multi-state or multi-entity operations strongly preferred - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel - Experience working with ERP systems - Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment - Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments - High level of discretion when handling sensitive financial data
