Horizon Montessori School has been in happy operation since 1973, and currently operates four classrooms. We are looking for a patient, caring, enthusiastic individual with a great sense of humor to be the teaching assistant for our full-day, year-round classroom for three- to six-year-olds. The room itself is beautifully equipped with a full complement of Montessori materials. Our school is on 3/4 acre of land with a lovely back yard, including children's gardens. The assistant helps to prepare the environment daily, supervise children at work and at play, and greet the children and their parents in a warm and friendly manner. Days and hours for this position are Mondays and Fridays from 8:45 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with an hour break and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The class is open year-round, with the exception of holidays. High school diploma required; knowledge and appreciation of the Montessori philosophy desirable. We will train you!

Responsibilities

• Observing and guiding children with their social, emotional, and intellectual needs

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and beautiful environment

• Coordinating and collaborating with other staff members

Requirements

• Good time management and organizational skills

• Ability to stand for long hours

• Having an eye for detail and good multitasking abilities

• Displaying a warm and welcoming personality

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
